Department of Economics
The Department of Economics has been functioning since the inception of the Sourashtra College-1967. The Department functioning under the headship of K.R.Srinivasan. As an allied department it is rendering teaching services to various department like Commerce, Corporate Secretaryship and Business Administration. It plays a vital role in the academic achivements of the college. All the members of the department are having doctorate as highest educational qualification. The departments conducting a number of academic meetings and seminars under the auspices of 'Amertiya Sen of Economics Club' in order to make students learn about recent developments in Economics. Moreover, the department is helpful to the research student of the college in training them in the application of statistical tools and techniques.
To enrich the knowledge of the students in the field of Business and to Develop employment skills to become entrepreneur.
To make the students to understand the concepts and theories applied in Business, Banking and economic aspects of development.
Department of Economics aimed to enable the students to learn and understand Economic behaviour of business firms and also to equip the students to face various competitive examinations to get employment opportunities.
The Department executes its aim through teaching, learning and evaluation methods and also aimed to inculcate Social Skills and Moral Values to attain overall citizenship quality.
